One-step Mode
The switch inserts the timestamp directly into the packet the moment it is transmitted. This mode delivers ultra-high efficiency with minimal CPU load.
Two-step Mode
The switch sends a primary packet, immediately followed by a dedicated Follow_Up message (standard IEEE 1588 terminology) containing the exact timestamp of the original packet. This mode offers broader compatibility.
Selection Guide
High-end industrial-grade devices typically support One-step mode. For networks with extremely high traffic volumes, One-step mode can significantly reduce network overhead.
