DIP switch function

What is the function of the DIP switch function?

VLAN one-button isolation

What is the function of VLAN isolation?

Divide a single switch into several small, independent networks.

    for example:

        VLAN1: Surveillance cameras

        VLAN2: PLC Industrial Control

        VLAN3: Office Internet Access

They are isolated from each other, do not affect each other, and do not attack each other.

effect

        1. Prevent monitoring traffic from blocking industrial networks

        2. Prevent the spread of the virus

        3. Ensure control data security

        4. Facilitates management and division of business.

In short: VLAN is used to isolate, separate, and separate networks.

250-meter long-distance mode

What is the function of the 250-meter long-distance mode?

A standard 100Mbps network cable (Category 5 cable) can normally only transmit data up to 100 meters.

By enabling the 250m long-distance mode and reducing the network speed to 10M, the transmission distance can be extended to 200-250 meters.

Applicable Scenarios

Long-distance cabling for cameras (construction sites, industrial parks, farmland, road monitoring)

The cabling is over 100 meters long, and I don't want to add fiber optic cable or a switch.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages: No fiber optic cable or repeater required, saving money and simple.

Disadvantages: The data rate drops to 10Mbps, making it suitable only for webcams and not for large datasets.

In short: If the distance is not enough or the network cable is too long, you can connect by turning on the long-distance mode.

One-click QoS

What is QoS (Quality of Service)?

Sort and categorize the data.

Highest priority: PLC, industrial control, alarm signals

    Medium: Video surveillance

Minimum: Regular internet browsing, background data usage

What problem is being solved?

With multiple monitoring points and high traffic volume, control signals will not be blocked; critical data will be prioritized, without interruption, loss, or delay.

In short: QoS = Prioritizing critical data to ensure uninterrupted industrial operations.

Reset/Restore factory defaults

What is the function of Reset/Restore Factory Defaults?

The Reset DIP switch is a "fast forward" button that can clear all the switch's configurations with a single click, returning it to its factory default state.

What can it do?

    Forgot IP address or password?

The configuration is messed up and can't be fixed.

Troubleshooting on-site requires "clearing the memory".

Quick reset when switching projects or environments

Operating method

Locate the switch labeled RESET / Reset / Factory Reset:

Switch to ON and hold for 1 second.

    Device restart

Switch to ON and hold for 5-10 seconds.

    Configure automatic clear

In short

One-click reset = instant reset of the entire network configuration, doubling troubleshooting efficiency.

One-button start of ring network

Ring network is one of the core high-reliability mechanisms in industrial switches.

When switches are connected in a closed loop, if a section of the line breaks, the device can automatically reconnect within tens of milliseconds, ensuring uninterrupted service.

What can it do?

    Automatic network outage repair

Essential for critical scenarios such as production lines, rail transit, and power.

To ensure that the system does not crash even if the connection is lost.

Compared to conventional networking, it offers significantly higher security.

Operating method

Locate the DIP switch marked RING / MRP / ERPS / Ring Network and switch it to ON.

In short

One-click ring network activation = automatic self-healing after network outage, the most stable network "safety belt" in industrial sites.

Storm suppression

"Broadcast storms" sometimes occur on industrial sites:A device malfunctions → sends out excessive data packets → network becomes congested → the entire network becomes slow or even paralyzed.

Storm suppression is like installing a "traffic brake" on the network to limit the rate at which abnormal traffic surges.

What can it do?

  • Prevent the entire network from freezing

  • To prevent a single camera malfunction from crippling the entire network

  • Avoid misconfiguration leading to broadcast overload

  • Stable overall network throughput

Operating method

The DIP switch is usually marked with:Storm / Suppression / StormSwitching to ON will automatically enable basic suppression.

In short

Storm Suppression One-Click On = Installing a "Traffic Brake" on Industrial Networks to Prevent Unexpected Network Outages.

baud rate configuration

Industrial switches often require functions such as serial port debugging and log reporting.

Baud rate is the "speed unit" of serial communication (such as 9600, 19200, etc.).

What can it do?

Facilitates troubleshooting for engineers

Enables the device to output logs and status information.

Operating method

Baud rate dialing typically has several settings:

    9600 / 19200 / 38400 / 57600 / 115200

Adjust the dial switches accordingly.

In short

Baud rate = Adjustable and monitorable industrial equipment is a standard feature of professional operation and maintenance.
